Back In the Saddle (Swivel Chair)

Thanks for the pic.
After a five-month break from writing, I'm back on the keyboard with fingers flying. And if feels good, to say the least. I needed to take a job this summer to fund my career as a writer, and I think it was a good move on my part. Every day at work for the last five months was spent out in the fresh air, and gave me a lot of time to think about my next few stories. I also listened to a LOT of audiobooks, which allowed me to listen to other authors with a critical ear, taking mental notes on what I thought worked well, and what I didn't like.

So now I've been back writing for two weeks. However, I'm doing a little much needed maintenance on Foreign Deceit and The Silversmith before I move forward.

Foreign Deceit had a few months of doing really well, and it's accumulated 96 reviews as I write this. Most of them are 4 and 5 star, but there were a lot of people complaining (rightfully so) about the lack of editing in the book.

So I hired a professional editor from New York to help me flesh out and clean up Foreign Deceit, the first David Wolf book. After two weeks, I've addressed all of her (my editor's) ideas and corrections, and in the end, it means that I've added 60 pages to the book, and a whole other mystery that is being solved at home while he is in Italy. In the meantime, I've figured out a better system for editing my work that includes a few more people moving forward.

I'll be releasing the 2nd Edition of Foreign Deceit early this upcoming week. I have to figure out the best way to get the word out about it. I believe Amazon can send out an email, but I'll be checking up on that. Honestly, I'm not sure how interested existing customers will be about the updated version, but I feel good about the book going forward. I think the first book is going to be my "ambassador" for the rest of my work, so it had better be good.

Otherwise, I'm 25k words into the 3rd David Wolf book, tentatively titled "Alive and Killing"...but I'm also floating a few other title ideas around.

The 4th book is pretty much completely outlined as well, so I think I'll be producing the next two David Wolf books pretty fast. The goal for the 3rd book is to release it on December 1st.

Then I've been giving a lot of thought into creating a trilogy about Lia Parente, the beautiful Carabinieri officer that helps Wolf in Foreign Deceit. I'm still not sure about what direction to go with that yet, but I know for sure I want to create a series based in Europe that has to do with an assassin. Lia would have to go through some pretty traumatic stuff to go from being a model Carabinieri officer to becoming an assassin...but I have my ideas. I'm actually really itching to get writing on that. BUT, one thing at a time.

I'll be back in a couple days with a link to the updated, professionally edited, fleshed out version of Foreign Deceit.

For those who like to read my stuff, thanks! And I'll keep the wait to a minimum between books from now on.
