About Jeff Carson

My name is Jeff Carson, author of the mystery-thriller David Wolf Series. I live in Colorado with my wife and two sons. My wife is from Italy, so I've spent some time jumping back and forth between there and the states, the longest stint of our family staying in Italy together being ten months.

It was during that long stay in Italy that I had an epiphany (breakdown?) and realized I needed a change, so I started writing fiction with every intent on making a living doing it within two years. It was probably pretty interesting sounding to my wife when I told her the news, but I laid out my case, citing many success stories I'd seen online of self-published authors succeeding.

I told Cristina I would publish ten stories, and then, and only then, would I entertain the idea of giving up if it wasn't working.

So I started the David Wolf Series, diving headfirst, firing first and aiming later ... probably aiming too late. (Just take a look at the early Foreign Deceit reviews ... wait ... no don't ... it's better now!)

I'm writing this four years after starting Foreign Deceit (almost to the day), and now I have nine full length David Wolf novels and one short story. There's ten! And thanks to support from readers like you, it's working, so I'm going to continue until the carpal tunnel really digs in and I have to use my elbows.

I hope you like the books, and I'd love to hear what you think. Drop me a line on the contact page, leave a comment anywhere you like, email me at Jeff@JeffCarson.co, visit me on Facebook, or whatever you want to do.

  1. Just read Alive and Killing, then found Deadly Conditions. I really enjoyed both of them and will read the other books as soon as I get them delivered. Since I live in Montana, I could relate to the winter weather in both books and started skiing when I was 8. I'm afraid to go back on the slopes now as I am in my 70's,ahh but the great memories! Thanks for great reading material Jeff!

    1. Great, I'm very glad you enjoyed the two books. I hope you like the others just as much, too. I hope Wolf skiing stirred some good memories for you ... hopefully you didn't fall off any cliffs! Thanks for stopping by the blog and thanks for reading.

    2. I have read all ten of your Dave Wolf series, and love ever minute of them. But cant help noticing Craig Johnson books on Walt Longmire series are somewhat alike on a sheriff and ranch and life in general. Love his books too and have read all of his series. So boys keep them coming I am a number one fan. Judy P Owens

    1. Hi Gerry, no I don't have them published in hard cover. Just Kindle and paperback (most of them). I'll be working on the audio versions later in the year as well.

  4. Jeff,
I just happen to download your first 2 books in the David Wolf series from amazon before heading on a little excursion away from home.....I am in love with this series!! I am half way thru the 2nd book and came to your blog-site to get the rest of the scoop on the series. These books are easy to read, great flow and gripping story lines. I could not believe how much happened in the first book within the first few chapters, I could not put it down! Keep up the good work, you have gained a loyal fan!

  5. Jeff,
    KEEP WRITING!!!
the series has been great. I read Cold Lake, Smoked Out, and To the Bone while we were at Disney- couldn't put them down.

your characters are real and unique and develop from book to book.

As I've told other authors, I like my fiction to be better than real life... the bad guy gets what's coming to them, the good guy wins out, gets the girl, and lives happily ever after.

And you have shaken that paradigm up a bit without leaving me upset.

So definitely keep writing. I'll read about Detective Wolf as long as you publish. And hope you will consider branch series... Luke's cases in the Caribbean and Seattle, Patterson's PI cases. And who knows what Jack will choose to do.

Thanks for a series of great reads, and here's to your continued success!

    1. Thanks K! I'm glad Wolf could be a good companion on your trip! That's awesome. And yes, I am considering a "Kristen Luke Files" series ... and am debating whether that is next, or a different series altogether.

Anyway, thanks for the support and I hope you like DARK MOUNTAIN, due out next week.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  6. I just finished "Dark Mountain" and again another good read. I think the "Silversmith" has been my favorite followed by "Cold Lake". I discovered your first book through Kindle Unlimited and continue to look for them.

You mentioned maybe doing another series with another character, but have you thought about doing another backstory like you did with "Gut Decision". Maybe one when David Wolf was a kid and his Dad was the Sheriff, or a time in his stint with the Army Rangers.

Anyway I will keep reading as you keep writing.

I'm glad you liked the book, thanks so much for letting me know. That's interesting about your favorites ... I like Cold Lake as well. I just recently re-edited that version to prepare it for audio and it was fun to read.

Yes, I've been tooling around with all sorts of ideas for the next books and future. I'll probably go back in time with Wolf at some time, and maybe do an offshoot series with Kristen Luke. But I definitely want to do the new series as well.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for reading!
